This is one of those pieces I made back in high school when I was just painting whatever felt fun, and somehow it actually turned out good. It’s on a circle canvas, which instantly made it feel a little different, and I remember getting totally locked in while painting these tiny hot air balloons floating over these big blue mountains. It wasn’t deep or planned or anything. I just liked the idea of something drifting and peaceful, and the round shape made it feel like its own little world.
Now when I look at it, it reminds me of who I was then, just a kid messing around with paint, figuring out what I liked and what I wanted to create. It feels dreamy and light, which is what I was going for that day; and honestly, it still makes me want to pick up a brush again and just create something on a whim.
